Before You Go
What to Expect on the Day

Blank days happen
Some days you'll see nothing. Training cancellations, weather, bank holidays — any of these can mean a quiet sky. Come mentally prepared for this.

No schedule, ever
There is no public timetable. Anyone claiming to know exactly when aircraft will fly is guessing. Plan for two days minimum.
🕗
Arrive early
Most activity falls 09:00–16:00 on weekdays. Being parked and on your hill by 08:30 means you won't miss the first pass of the day.
✈️
It is spectacular
When a Typhoon or F-15 screams past below you at 400+ knots, it is genuinely breathtaking. Even one pass makes the whole trip worthwhile.

Community shouts
Spotters shout "Incoming!" and pass direction info. The community is welcoming — newcomers are not out of place on any hill.

Proper hill walking
Most locations need a real climb on rough ground. Boots, waterproofs, food, water, and a paper map are essential — Welsh weather changes fast.

This is not an airshow. There is no timetable and blank days are common. Always plan for the possibility of seeing nothing and treat a busy sky as the bonus it is. Allow at least two full days.
